I found a rare wand with +5 energy (when enchanted - which is pretty much always for an ele) and +18% recharge on...Divine Favour skills
But it leads me to believe that +5 energy when enchanted / +20% recharge on fire skills could exist. That'd be sexy.

U should find all the info you'll need to make ur decision, and locate the items you seek.
Personally, any wand without energy bonus (even with perfect fastcast/recharge) is of no use to me.
Magik_One, lol first of all the Nolani is a pretty Low-Level area; ur lookin in the wrong place if you want max damage.
Why that wand is looker is for the +5 energy always. Not bad for a starting character who doesn't have the Plat to buy that 5k gold wand with situational +energy... or the attrib points to use it.
One man's "Crap" is another man's treasaure... I wish I had explored Nolani when I was a nub lol, would have made my adventuring a lot easier; I was stuck with a low dmg wand with no energy bonus.
The only thing that worries me about that wand is the negative attribs to critical hit and damage. Dunno wat that's about...

The collectors artifacts are the best imo; I prefer them over some of the gold drops I found. The wands, well... no energy bonus... but they are good to keep ya in the game long enough to find/buy one tho
The guild wiki home page lists everything you'll ever need to know. Just click on the links and soak up the knowledge
Personally, I only reffer to it when I wanna quickly find out what collectors parts are good for which; salvaging as well... but you can basically find out anything if that's what u want.

20% - 20%
I would like to add my 2 cents on the 20%/20% debate to try and help those replying understand.
Try to visualize with me if you will....
Your character has 2 items, 1 in each hand. Each has a 20 % mod.
20% = a 1 in 5 chance of whatever the mod is of happening.
Follow me now.
1. The character casts a spell.
2. The first item goes through it's 1 in 5 chance to have success. If that 20% happens to prevail, then it doesn't matter what the second item mods are, it was successful. If it falls into the 80% failure, THEN the next items 20% chance comes into effect.
3. The process begins again for the second item assuming it has the same 20% mod.
4. So no, the 20% don't stack and become 40%, but you have 2 chances of 20% I think if my math is correct it is like a 32% chance of success, but i'm not sure if thats totally accurate.

1/5 +4/5*1/5= 9/25 so 36%
Anyway it's not the point of the OP question.
Then my answer: there is no ultimate combinaison, make your one choice.

i think rago's flame staff is best for me. You get constant 15 energy with 20 20 and enchants last 20 percent longer. And + it looks cool and easy to farm if you have final assault. And if you are too lazy to farm for it, you can just buy it for 70k now.

Agree with the above. My E/Me found a Rago's Flame Staff on her first trip through Sorrows Furnace, alone except for her henchbots at that. I hadn't played in several months prior to the SF update so I had no idea what this green staff that had just dropped was...
Stat wise though its solid. The +20% enchant and +5 energy are comparable to the extra +20% fast cast/recharge (cannot recall which) on the collector wand/focus set, especially if you run an enchantment build (I use X Attunement and Elemental Attunement in my builds). And its graphic is pretty sweet.
But as most everyone has already said its entirely up to personal choice. Max damage IMO isn't so imperative to an Ele wand/staff if the stats on it are more than enough to compensate for it. Oh noes! I just did 10 damage instead of 12! Yeah... that's hardly a big deal.

Surely theres no point in having 20% enchants when your only using 1 attune, wouldnt the mod work better as extra health or armour?
For my ele i take the collectors 20/20 with +5 energy and +5 armour then a 20% sword to switch to when using ele attune.

I have experimented with all combos of wand/artifact that i have found in the game, perfect collector's, rago's, etc. I have been using a customized collector's wand and artifact to solo farm and have beat all of the quest with them. I have had all of Rago's things and always end up peddling them off because I get so much money for them. I can't bring myself to customizing a 50k+ item! I suppose when I get bored of making money, I may get and customize a rago wand, until then though, Ill stick with the collector's. Besides I have some nice golds if anyone is interested in buying them. My IGN is Lorian Maelstrom, Balsk Bushbuff, and Medea Sorlean. Have a good one.

I use the wayward wand and straw effigy combo for my fire ele. except for the fact that it doesn't have an enchanting mod, it seems like one of the best choices for an elementalist.

First, I'd like to say that there is no "ultimate" fire weapon. It really depends on the build you're using. That being said, I generally prefer having 20/20 for both wand and offhand. And yes, the 20%'s do stack, but it's not 32%, it's 36%. Here's the math:
The chance that neither 20% will kick in is 0.8*0.8=0.64, hence the chance that at least one will kick in is 1-0.64=0.36=36%. This is very elementary probabilities guys...
Here're my takes on some of the other available mods:
+30hp - Very solid offhand mod, effective for offsetting the health lost due to runes
+1 Fire - Not worth it, imho. The added damage is small and happens only occasionally
5>50 and 5 while enchanted - Might be good, but you already have high ES
20/20 cast - Very useful, imho, especially when casting MS or some other spell with long cast times. In battle, every second counts. The faster you can pump out damage, the better.
20/20 recharge - This really depends on your build. If you're using GoR with MS, the recharge for MS is moot.

Do you guys realize that you can buy a wand with 20% cast, 20% recharge, as well as a side item with 20% cast, and 20% recharge. And did you also know what it only costs around 6k, without the materials, to craft both of them? Did you also know you can use this combo with any spell casting profession in the game? The thing is that the Wand is in factions and the side item is in the first game. Just thought you might want to look into that option because you seem to want to go that way. From my experience in using this item build with Air, death, and fire, i must say that it works quite well in most situations. So unless you want more punch or more energy, i would tell you to try and cut down the cast and recharge time (especially for fire spells) and get your damage out quick to support your buddies.

personally my fav combo is:
Fire Wand (req 8-12)
+5 energy while health is above 50%
20% faster recharge owith Fire skills
Flame Artifact (req 8-12)
Energy +12
Armor +5 (always)
Health -20
Health +30
Theres some sort of artifact like this, ive seen screenshots on it
